About this opportunity

You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of End user devices, along with our fleet of virtual machines and network infrastructure.

We have 2 ICT apprenticeships that are available this year.

One is focussed on IOT services to support the Engineering Teams and the other is focussed on IT service delivery to support our people across TBT group.

An example of your day for each of these will look like this:

IOT Apprentice

• Install, configure, test and deploy IoT devices and sensors for various applications and customers, including smart building, industrial automation and environmental monitoring
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement IoT solutions tailored to specific business requirements
• Configure network settings and protocols to ensure seamless communication between IoT devices and backend systems
• Monitor and maintain the health and performance of IoT systems, diagnosing and resolving technical issues as they arise
• Implement security best practices to safeguard IoT networks and devices from cyber threats and unauthorised access
• Develop and maintain documentation including installation guides, tech specifications and troubleshooting procedures
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in the field

IT Services Apprentice

• Telecommunications infrastructure – physical or virtual hardware, software, network services and data storage either on-premises or to end-users provisioned as cloud services
• Handle onboarding of new employees from an IT perspective
• Contributing to the preparation for new or changed services
• Operation of the change process
• Building and management of systems and components in virtualised and cloud computing environments and the monitoring of performance of systems and services in relation to their contribution to business performance, their security and sustainability
• Supporting internal and/or external customers by using tools or systems to problem solve and trouble-shoot routine and non-routine problems
• Installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and/or software faults, solving technical and application problems
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to hardware, software and network systems
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as system updates, data backups and antivirus scans
• Support on IT projects and initiatives
• Document technical procedures, configurations and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
• Participate in training sessions and workshops.

Skills

Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems from an administrator perspective (Windows, MacOS, Linux) and networking concepts such as DHCP, DNS VPN, TLS, SSH
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Basic understanding of virtualization technologies such as Hypervisors.
