To assist the skilled staff in supportive tasks for setting and operating a variety of CNC and manual machine tools. The work will be varied and flexible to support a fast paced production environment.
A normal day would include:
- Receiving material goods in and checking all orders
- Cutting to size on power saw to tape measure length, deburing and preparing raw material for machining
- Setting new cutting tools in holders and measuring offsets
- Setting raw material in machine clamping methods such as vices or jigs
- Using manual machines like centre lathe to turn finished components.
- Using measuring equipment such as micrometres, verniers and slip gauges to check and inspect dimensions to 0.01mm accuracy
- Deburr and finish components using files, sanders, scrapers
- Wash and degrease finished components ready for assembly

GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and maths is preferred or the ability to work this level
