This course is aimed at electricians who require additional knowledge about individual charging stations and the regulations around their installation.
This course supports the intention to transition to electric cars by 2030.
This course is designed specifically for Domestic Installers who wish to learn how to install, fault find and inspect and test domestic car charging points.
The course covers the installation of electric vehicle charging equipment for the charging of pure electric and plug-in hybrid electric road vehicles (PHEV) and includes the extended range of electric vehicles (E-REV). It also covers the installation of both AC and DC charging equipment intended for plug-in electric vehicles (PEV) complying with “The Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installations”.

- Key requirements relating to electric vehicle charging equipment
- The advantages and disadvantages of different types of electric vehicle charging arrangements and equipment
- The preparation for the design and installation of electric vehicle charging equipment
- How to plan and prepare for the design and installation of electric vehicle charging equipment in domestic locations
- How to install electric vehicle charging equipment for domestic locations · requirements for inspection, testing, commissioning and handover of electric vehicle charging equipment
- How to carry out inspection, testing, commissioning and handover of electric vehicle charging equipment in domestic locations
Applicants should be existing domestic installers most likely already registered on a competent person scheme.
Applicants must be:
- Aged 18 years old or older.
- Competent to work on domestic electrical installations
- Able to carry out an initial verification (inspection and testing) on an electrical installation and complete the necessary paperwork
- Up to date with the latest Building Regulations requirements
- Up to date with the latest 18th Edition wiring regulations (highly recommended but not compulsory)
