This course is fully funded for Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire residents who meet the eligibility criteria.

Greater Manchester 2024/2025 Funding Rules for Applicant Eligibility:

  • For learners aged 19+ on or before the 31st August 2024
  • Lived in a Greater Manchester postcode region
  • Lived in the UK for the last 3 years
  • Be either unemployed and employed applicants
  • If employed, must earn less than the current ‘low wage threshold’ of £32,200

South Yorkshire 2024/2025 Funding Rules for Applicant Eligibility:

  • 24+ on or before the 31st August 2024
  • Lived in a South Yorkshire postcode region (Barnsley, Doncaster, Sheffield or Rotherham)
  • Be either unemployed or Employed
  • If employed, must earn less than the current ‘low wage threshold’ of £30,476.96
  • Must not hold more than one Level 3 or higher qualification

When does the course start?

The next cohort will begin on 30 September 2024.

This is a full time course and classes will take place from 09:30 – 12:30 /13:30 – 16:30, Monday to Friday.

What does the course cover?

This course is designed to support learner development into the exciting world of IT Infrastructure.

Learners will complete the following units:

 

Project Management (IT Systems Infrastructure)

  • Understand the principles of project management and the methodologies used by organisations to manage IT systems infrastructure projects.
  • Be able to use project management software to plan an IT systems infrastructure project.
  • Be able to use project management software to monitor and review an IT systems infrastructure project.

Cloud Technologies

  • Understand the fundamentals of cloud services.
  • Understand cloud security.
  • Apply cloud technologies to virtual environments.
  • Apply cloud backup and recovery methods.

 

Data Communications

 

  • Understand the principles of data communications.
  • Understand the features of data communications systems.
  • Be able to implement different forms of network communications.

 

Networking

  • Understand networks and their components
  • Be able to apply numerical skills for network addressing.
  • Understand network connectivity.
  • Understand how to configure and maintain a secure network.
  • Understand networking maintenance practices and processes.

 

System Security and Encryption

  • Understand security threats and the legal requirements affecting system security.
  • Understand cryptographic techniques and processes used to protect data.
  • Understand the techniques used to protect systems from security threats.
  • Be able to implement strategies to protect systems from security threats.

Upon successful completion, you will achieve a Level 3 Certificate in Systems Infrastructure.

I don't have any previous experience, can I still do this course?
