This course is fully funded for Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire residents who meet the eligibility criteria.

Greater Manchester 2024/2025 Funding Rules for Applicant Eligibility:

  • For learners aged 19+ on or before the 31st August 2024
  • Lived in a Greater Manchester postcode region
  • Lived in the UK for the last 3 years
  • Be either unemployed and employed applicants
  • If employed, must earn less than the current ‘low wage threshold’ of £32,200

South Yorkshire 2024/2025 Funding Rules for Applicant Eligibility:

  • 24+ on or before the 31st August 2024
  • Lived in a South Yorkshire postcode region (Barnsley, Doncaster, Sheffield or Rotherham)
  • Be either unemployed or Employed
  • If employed, must earn less than the current ‘low wage threshold’ of £30,476.96
  • Must not hold more than one Level 3 or higher qualification

This course is the first step toward a career in teaching; it is suitable for those who work in FE colleges and independent training providers and also those working in voluntary, community, private and public organisations delivering training.

The course aims to apply educational theory to professional skills and techniques to support staff who aspire or have a training and development role, to gain the knowledge they need to support effective learning.

What does the course cover?

To achieve the qualification, you must successfully complete the following 3 units:

Understand Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training – this unit focuses on the role and responsibilities of a teacher in education and training and the relationship between different professionals in education and training.

Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training – this unit focuses on inclusive teaching and learning approaches to meet the needs of learners. It includes how to create a learning environment that engages and motivates learners, and the planning, delivery and evaluation of inclusive teaching and learning. It requires the learner to deliver a microteaching session and to evaluate their own delivery practice.

Understanding Assessment in Education and Training – this unit focuses on how different types and methods of assessment are used in education and training. It includes ways to involve learners in assessment and requirements for record-keeping,

Where will I study?

This course is delivered online.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no entry requirements for this course however, you will be required to complete an initial diagnostic in maths and English as part of the enrolment process.

As this course is delivered online, you will need access to a device with a camera and access word documents.

What will I achieve?

Upon successful completion, you will achieve a Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
