Level 2 Certificate in Warehousing and Storage

This course is FREE to individuals who:

  • Are employed or unemployed
  • Are a Greater Manchester Resident
  • Aged 19+
  • Earns less than £25,000

This level 2 course enables individuals to demonstrate competence in their job roles and to develop the essential work-based skills required to work effectively in the industry.

Work activities of a Warehouse Operative include:

  • Taking deliveries
  • Checking for damaged/missing items
  • Storing goods
  • Moving stock by various methods
  • Picking/packing orders
  • Loading goods for dispatch
  • Maintaining stock records and documentation
  • Cleaning

Learners are required to safely use a range of equipment, machinery and vehicles which are relevant to their role and setting. This could include mechanical racking systems, materials handling equipment (MHE) or forklift trucks.

When does the course start?

This course can be started immediately, at a time that is best suited to you.

Course content and assessment

To complete this level 2 qualification learners must complete all mandatory units and a combination of job-specific units to achieve at least 10 credits for knowledge and 10 credits for competence.

Mandatory units

  • Health, safety and security at work
  • Develop effective working relationships with colleagues in logistics operations

Optional units: job-specific

  • Pick goods in logistics operations
  • Assemble orders for dispatch in logistics operations
  • Keep work areas clean in logistics operations
  • Use an industrial forklift truck in logistics operations
  • Check stock levels and records
  • Supervise the receipt, storage or dispatch of goods

 

Assessment

To successfully achieve a unit learners must gather a portfolio of evidence that shows that they have met the required standard in the assessment criteria.

Evidence can take a variety of different forms including the following examples:

  • Direct observation of the learner’s performance by their Skills Development Coach
  • Outcomes from oral or written questioning
  • Product evidence of the learner’s work
  • Professional discussion
What will I achieve?

On successful completion, learners will achieve a Level 2 Certificate in Warehousing and Storage.

What are the entry requirements?

Learners must be employed within a warehousing environment. 

This course is suitable for anyone aged 16 and over.

Where will I study?

All training takes place on the employer’s premises with regular visits from a designated Skills Development Coach.
