This course is designed to equip you with the essential carpentry skills needed for a variety of construction roles. You’ll gain practical experience, an understanding of industry standards, and a strong foundation in health and safety requirements for working on-site.

What is a Study Programmes?
A Study Programme is a course designed for 16-18 year olds who want to progress onto an apprenticeship but don’t feel quite ready. A Study Programme will help you develop essential skills, gain industry-specific knowledge, and become more employable.

When does the course start?

1 September 2025

What does the course cover?
  • A comprehensive range of site carpentry skills to prepare you for hands-on roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction industry and its safety protocols.
  • An understanding of tools, materials, and techniques used in the trade.
When will I attend?

You will be required to attend the Greater Manchester SkillCentre up to three days per week.

Additional attendance will be required if you have not yet passed your maths and/or English.

Will I receive an allowance?

Yes, you will receive an allowance of up to £25 per week. 

What will I achieve?

On successful completion, you will achieve an NOCN Level 2 Diploma in Site Carpentry.

What are the entry requirements?

To apply for this qualification, you must have achieved:

  • GCSE grade 2 or above in maths and English, or
  • Functional Skills Level 1 in maths and English
What does the course cost?

The course is FREE for anyone aged 16-18.
