Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations

This Study Programme ideal for young people who want to develop an understanding and practical experience of specific engineering technologies.

Electrical, mechanical and the use of engineering machines give young people a well-rounded experience of a wide variety of engineering disciplines to ensure the correct career pathway can be supported to progress to the correct apprenticeship.

What does the course cover?

You will cover a range of hands on engineering topics, including:

  • Machining
  • Electrical wiring
  • Maintenance
  • Hand fitting
  • Health and safety
  • Using technical information and how to work efficiently in the workshop
  • Plus a range of employability skills. 


Will I receive an allowance?

You will receive an allowance of up to £25 per week. 

What will I achieve?

On successful completion, you will achieve a City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations.

What are the entry requirements?

You must have GCSE grade 4/C or above in maths.

Ideally you will have a GCSE grade 4/C or above in English.If you have GCSE grade 3/D in English you must complete a subject to specific assessment to assess your suitability for the Engineering Study Programme.

We have three locations where you can study for the course:

  • Tameside College in Ashton under Lyne
  • Oldham Training Centre 
  • Greater Manchester SkillCentre in Trafford Park
How much does the course cost?

The course is FREE for anyone aged 16-18.
