What is a Study Programmes?
A Study Programme is a course designed for 16-18 year olds who want to progress onto an apprenticeship but don’t feel quite ready. A Study Programme will help you develop essential skills, gain industry-specific knowledge, and become more employable.

- Gas Core Skills and Knowledge: Gain an understanding of essential concepts related to gas utilisation, including gas safety regulations, installation standards, and the principles of gas appliances.
- Practical Installation and Maintenance: Develop hands-on skills in the installation, servicing, and maintenance of gas systems and appliances.
- Pipework and Components: Learn about the design, preparation, and fitting of pipework systems used in gas installations.
- Health, Safety, and Compliance: Understand the importance of safety in the workplace and compliance with legal requirements in the gas industry.
- Customer Service Skills: Build the communication and problem-solving skills needed to deliver excellent customer service in domestic or commercial settings.
Delivered in state-of-the-art training facilities, this programme provides the foundation for progression to an apprenticeship, enabling you to pursue rewarding careers in the gas and energy sector.
You will be required to attend the Greater Manchester SkillCentre up to three days per week.
Additional attendance will be required if you have not yet passed your maths and/or English.
Yes, you will receive an allowance of up to £25 per week.
To apply for this qualification, you must have achieved:
- GCSE grade 3 or above in maths and English, or
- Functional Skills Level 1 in maths and English
On successful completion, you will achieve a Level 2 Diploma in Gas Utilisation.
The course is FREE for anyone aged 16-18.
