This online qualification is for those with some experience using Microsoft Windows who want to build skills in Microsoft Excel.

Microsoft Office proficiency is essential in any professional setting. Whether you aim to advance in your career, start a business, or develop a personal skill, this course is for you.

You will learn to use Excel to organise, analyse, present, and store data. By the end of the course, you'll be able to create new spreadsheets, use basic formulas and functions, and make your spreadsheets look professional.

What does the course cover?

On this 12 week course, we will cover:

  • Using Excel, you'll develop an understanding of techniques to be able to produce spreadsheets.
  • Learn how to apply advanced formulae and functions to process data and use automated tools to aid productivity.
  • Explore big data and how it is analysed and manipulated by organisations to predict patterns and trends.
  • Learn about data analysis techniques and how they can be used to collect, cleanse, manipulate and present findings.
  • Be able to create a spreadsheet to improve productivity.
  • Be able to review and refine a spreadsheet to improve usability.
What will I achieve?

On successful completion, you will achieve a Gateway Qualifications Level 2 Award in Digital and IT Skills. 

What are the entry requirements?

This qualification does not have any formal entry requirements, but you must demonstrate the ability to study at Level 2. Prior to enrolment, you will complete assessments in Maths, English, and IT to ensure suitability for the course.

You have access to a computer with Microsoft Excel and the Internet. 

Where will I study?

This is a part-time course and is delivered online, 2 days per week:

Monday and Friday - 1pm - 3.15pm.
