Level 1 Essential Digital Skills
These qualifications, suitable for all ages, help develop crucial digital skills like using devices, editing digital media, online communication, transactions, and online safety.
By completing this qualification you will gain knowledge, confidence and experience in
using digital skills to obtain work or progression in your existing career.
As well as supporting you in the workplace and/or whilst seeking work, digital skills are important for everyday life and communication, for example:
- Be able to use browsers and search engines to find the results you need
- Computer basics and settings Use messaging platforms, such as WhatsApp or Messenger, to talk to friends or family members
- Sending photographs and other documents to friends and family as an email attachment
- Set up and use video calls such as Teams, Zoom or Skype for video communications Manage personal networking sites, such as Facebook, Instagram etc
- Posting appropriately on social media, visit and post to forums such as Reddit
- Create word-processed documents using different tools available
- Create spreadsheets and graphs for personal and/or business use

This level 1 qualification will cover:

- Creating and editing
- Communicating
- Transacting
- Being safe and responsible online
You will take an onscreen test at our offices in Manchester as part of this qualification.
On successful completion, you will achieve a Gateway Qualifications Level 1 Essential Digital Skills qualification.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
You must have access to a
- Laptop, PC
- A stable internet connection
This course is delivered online via Teams.
The course is FREE for anyone:
- Aged 19 or older
- Lives in Greater Manchester
- Has the right to live and work in the UK
