Level 1 Diploma in Plastering (Pre-Apprenticeship)
As a plasterer, you apply different kinds of plaster to internal walls and ceilings so that they are ready for decorating. If you want a job in construction and you can work with your hands quickly and accurately, then this could be an ideal stepping stone to get you up-to-speed on the skills employers want. It also gives you an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the area you want to work in.
What is a Pre-Apprenticeships (also known as a Study Programmes)
A pre-apprenticeship is a course designed for 16-18 year olds who want to progress onto an
apprenticeship but don’t feel quite ready. A Pre-Apprenticeship will help you develop essential skills, gain industry-specific knowledge, and become more employable.

This pre-apprenticeship covers:
- Health, safety and welfare in construction
- Principles of building construction, information and communication
You will learn how to:
- apply plastering materials to interiors
- fix dry lining and plasterboards to interiors
- lay sand and cement screeds
- apply plastering materials to external backgrounds
- produce reverse moulds for fibrous work
- casting and fixing fibrous plasterwork
Yes, you will receive an allowance of up to £25 per week.
On successful completion, you will achieve a City & Guilds Level 1 Diploma in Plastering.
You must achieve or have achieved a GCSE Grade 2 or above in maths and English.
The course is FREE for anyone aged 16-18.
