On this Study Programme you will learn a variety of skills such as joinery manufacturing and site carpentry. The work is varied and you could progress to work for a joinery company, site carpentry firm or a small building company.

What does the course cover?

This study Programme covers:

  • Health, safety and welfare in construction
  • Principles of building construction, information and communication
  • Carry out first fix flooring and roofing
  • Carry out first fix frames, partitions and stairs
  • Carry out second fixing operations
  • Carry out carpentry maintenance
  • Set up and operate a circular saw

 

Will I receive an allowance?

Yes, you will receive an allowance of up to £50 per week. There may be additional bursaries that you can apply for.

What will I achieve?

On successful completion, you will achieve a City & Guilds Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery.

What are the entry requirements?

Applicants must have achieved a GCSE Grade 2 and a minimum of Entry 3 in maths and English when completing the initial assessment upon enrolment.

How much does the course cost?

The course is FREE for anyone aged 16-18.
