Level 1 and Level 2 Employability Skills

Employability Skill will form part of your Study Programme to support you in learning and developing the key skills, qualities and attitudes which are required by all employers.

Your Study Programme will be tailored to meet your needs and will include one of the above qualifications, plus a combination of additional qualifications such as Essential Digital Skills, Health & Safety, and Maths and English (if needed). You will also have the opportunity to complete a work placement or work experience while studying with us.

These Employability Skills qualifications are aimed at anyone who wants to live a more independent life, progress in education and / or their employment prospects; get into a job, develop on the job or move onto the next job, as they progress along the career ladder.

When does the course start?

August and September 2024.

Don't worry if you are not ready to start with us in August or September, if we have space you can join this course throughout the year.

What does the course cover?

To complete your qualification, you must achieve the required number of credits, each unit will have credits. Don’t worry, your tutor will go through this with you.

Level 1 units include:

  • Career planning and making applications
  • Working as part of a team
  • Work-based experience
  • Effective communication
  • Understanding conflict at work

Level 2 units include:

  • Career planning and making applications
  • Effective skills, qualities, and attitudes for learning and work
  • Communication with others in the workplace
  • Introduction to continued professional development

If you do not hold the relevant English and maths qualifications, you will work towards them as part of this programme.

When will I attend?

Your attendance will depend on your timetable. We will go through this information with you in detail when you enrol.

Will I receive a bursary?

Yes, you will receive a bursary of up to £10.50* per day.

*Subject to adhering to the attendance and behaviour polices.

What will I achieve?

On successful completion you will achieve either a:

  • Level 1 Employability Skills
  • Level 2 Employability Skills
What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements however, you will need to attend an informal interview.

How much does the course cost?

The course is FREE for anyone aged 16-18 or 19-24 with an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).
