Who is this programme for?
This programme is a fantastic opportunity for individuals aged 19+ who are unemployed or earning less than £25,000 and live in Greater Manchester. If you're passionate about starting a career in the growing construction and solar energy sector, this is your chance to gain the qualifications and hands-on experience you need to succeed.
To be eligible, you’ll need:
- A passport, birth certificate, or residency card.
- Proof of the right to work and remain in the UK.
- A good level of English.
- Not be enrolled in any other ASF-funded courses.
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to solar panel installation, combining hands-on training with key certifications to launch your career in the booming solar energy sector.
What You'll Learn:
- Introduction to Solar Installation: Gain an understanding of the basics of solar panel systems, their components, and how they work.
- Solar Competency Programme (Roof Mount): Develop practical skills to safely and efficiently install roof-mounted solar panels under the guidance of industry experts.
You'll also earn essential qualifications, including Working at Height, Manual Handling, and Harness Awareness. By the end of the course, you'll have a strong understanding of emerging technologies and safety standards, fully prepared to take the next step toward becoming an approved solar installer.
Plus, you'll secure your Green CSCS Card, giving you the confidence to work on-site.
- Level 1 Certificate in Introduction to the Facilities Industry

- 2 Year Green CSCS Card, enabling you to work on construction sites
- CTS Working at Height and Manual Handling Certification
