“The fact that there were 2-3 learners facilitated active participation which greatly contributed to our learning.”
Ahmet Sanic has over 20 years of experience in medicine and microbiology, with a degree in Medicine from Aegean University (1986). He has held medical roles as a specialist doctor and academic positions as a professor and dean in Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Kyrgyzstan, and worked as a visiting scientist in New York.
Since moving to the UK in 2020, Ahmet has been working as a medical laboratory assistant at Salford Royal Hospital.
He enrolled on the Functional Skills English programme to improve his English and get him one step closer to his goal of working as an academic in the microbiology field here in the UK.
Ahmet said: “The education manager at our laboratory told me about the course and gave my permission to attend as an opportunity to improve my English. I enrolled on the level 1 course first and passed last semester and I’ve now completed level 2.”
Speaking about his experience on the programme, Ahmet added: “The content and execution of the course are very well designed, our teacher was experienced and always willing to help, and our lessons were very productive.
“I enjoyed the only learning element and the fact that there were 2-3 learners facilitated active participation which greatly contributed to our learning. It has definitely helped me to improve my English.”
