The Growth Company Education and Skills is celebrating the success of apprentice Rochelle Pilgrim at the Made in Manchester Awards last night.
Rochelle, Joinery apprentice with Blue Ocean Building Ltd, was awarded Apprentice of the Year at the annual event held in Kimpton Clocktower.
She was nominated for her commitment to her learning and development and her contributions to the business. As the first woman on the team of joiners, she has not let this put her off achieving her goals.
Rochelle is proud to be a woman working in a typically male-dominated industry and her confidence and skills have meant that she has had a positive impact on the business, changing perceptions that some colleagues had about women in construction, and has inspired other apprentices.
Rochelle is passionate about pursuing a career in joinery and is always looking to take her learning one step further wherever she can. She is a self-starter with a great work ethic and motivation for her work.
Jon Paul-Rimington, Managing Director of The Growth Company Education and Skills, said: “I’d like to pass on my congratulations to Rochelle. Winning this award is truly a fantastic achievement. Apprenticeships are all about widening opportunities for people. They give people the chance to get started in life-changing careers. Rochelle’s story is proof that you can start that journey at any age and succeed at it.
“At the Growth Company, we believe that apprenticeships play a vital role in enabling businesses to grow and individuals to thrive. With over 30 years' experience, we are very proud to be one of the leading providers of apprenticeships.”
Rochelle is an inspiring role model for women who are considering a career in the construction industry, we couldn’t be prouder that she has been recognised.
