Callum and Lay have both recently completed their level 2 construction course at Tameside SkillCentre. They are now working towards their CSCS card and are hoping to progress onto an apprenticeship with help from their key worker.
Speaking of their time at The Growth Company Education & Skills, Callum said: “This is the best college I’ve been to. I went to other colleges before but found it overwhelming with the number of students there. I like that it's a small centre and everyone's dead friendly. I’ve really enjoyed it here."
As well as small class sizes, Callum and Lay are very thankful to the staff at Tameside, they said: “All of the staff here are very respectful and approachable – they are willing to listen and offer support when you need it.”
Lay also said: "I used to get into trouble at school but I've done dead well here. I've completed the level 2 in construction course and now I'm working towards my CSCS card at Tameside."
Callum added: “I’d recommend going to Tameside SkillCentre, especially to anyone who would benefit in going to a small, friendly college.”
Jill Hudson, training centre manager at Tameside said: "Callum and Lay have both achieved their level 2 diploma in maintenance operations with us at Tameside. They should both be very proud of their achievements. Not only have they achieved their qualifications with us, they have grown in confidence and are capable of securing a good career with the skills they have learnt."
