GC Skills Bootcamp leads to two job offers for a recent graduate

17 Jun 2024

Carla Redhead, a recent graduate from the Skills Bootcamp talks about her experience on the programme and how it led her to not one but two job offers.

“I’d graduated from university in 2022 but not had any luck finding a job. I was at a careers fair when I found out about the Skills Bootcamp programme GC Education and Skills offer and it’s fair to say I was intrigued.”

After learning more, I decided to enrol on one of the programmes. I wanted to learn more about digital marketing and content writing, so the Creative Careers Skills Bootcamp was a perfect fit for me.

“During the course I learnt excellent employability skills and even had help setting up my LinkedIn profile, and with creating a new CV. This along with the rigorous course made me well equipped for a career in the digital space.”

Carla added, “The course was a helpful introduction and covered a lot of different areas of digital marketing and how its evolving. It taught me new ways to be creative, I learnt how to drive traffic to websites, I learnt lots of new skills and in the process built a portfolio of work.”

Graduating in October 2023, Carla began her role at Marketing Manchester just a few short months later as Digital Executive Officer, but before that she had to decide which job she would accept from the two offers she’d received.

Carla has been in full time employment for just over three months now and finds herself busy supporting across social channels, managing web listings, creating inspiring and data driven content, working on campaigns and various other activities.

Carla says, “I’m so glad I took part in this course, it’s helped me so much, I don’t think I would have got my job at Marketing Manchester without this Skills Bootcamp.”
