On Friday, we had the pleasure of attending the Construction Apprenticeship Awards in Manchester, a night dedicated to recognising apprentices and employers in the construction industry, and we’re proud to share some fantastic news.
Two of our apprentices were shortlisted for the Level 2 Apprentice of the Year award, and the night turned out to be even more special than we could have anticipated.
Liam Takes Home the Award
We’re excited to announce that Liam Cleaver was the winner in the Level 2 Construction Apprentice of the Year category! His dedication, hard work, and progress throughout his plastering apprenticeship earned him this well-deserved recognition. It’s a proud moment for him, his family and the GC team!
A Special Surprise for Max Fleming
In a completely unexpected turn of events, the judges took to the stage after the main awards to present an additional award. They had been so impressed by one particular nominee during the interviews that they felt compelled to create a new category: the Highly Commended Apprentice award. This special recognition was designed to recognise an apprentice who left a significant impression on the judges and demonstrated exceptional promise.
We couldn’t be more excited to share that Max Fleming was the winner of this unique award! His performance during the interviews stood out so much that the judges introduced a new category just for him. It’s an inspiring reminder of the impact a strong impression can make and a testament to Max’s remarkable attitude and potential.
Lee Beveridge, SkillCentre Manager, said: “The evening was a true celebration of the commitment, skill, and development of our apprentices. Liam’s and Max’s achievements show just how valuable apprenticeships and hands-on learning can be. Their success highlights the great potential of young people in construction and the bright future ahead for the sector. We couldn’t be prouder of both of them.”
