The Level 2 Diploma in Plastering builds on foundational knowledge, equipping you with advanced techniques and the expertise needed for a successful career in the construction industry.

This hands-on course focuses on enhancing your plastering abilities, from applying specialist finishes and rendering techniques to working with complex surfaces. You'll also gain a deeper understanding of workplace safety, materials, and equipment, ensuring you're fully prepared for the demands of the trade.

What is a Study Programmes?
A Study Programme is a course designed for 16-18 year olds who want to progress onto an apprenticeship but don’t feel quite ready. A Study Programme will help you develop essential skills, gain industry-specific knowledge, and become more employable.

When does the course start?

1 September 2025

What does the course cover?

This course covers several key topics to prepare you for a career in plastering. You’ll learn how to:

  • Work safely and adhere to industry standards
  • Interpret and follow verbal and written work instructions
  • Fix and joint plasterboard to timber and lightweight metal frameworks
  • Direct bond plasterboard to masonry surfaces
  • Apply one-coat, two-coat, and three-coat plastering techniques
  • Use traditional, modern, and machine-applied rendering systems, including coloured rendering
  • Cast products using fibrous plaster methods

 

 

When will I attend?

You will be required to attend the Greater Manchester SkillCentre up to three days per week.

Additional attendance will be required if you have not yet passed your maths and/or English.

Will I receive an allowance?

You will receive an allowance of up to £25 per week. 

What will I achieve?

On successful completion, you will achieve a Level 2 Diploma in Plastering.

What are the entry requirements?

To apply for this qualification, you must have achieved:

  • GCSE grade 2 or above in maths and English, or
  • Functional Skills Level 1 in maths and English
How much does the course cost?

The course is FREE for anyone aged 16-18.
