The Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations provides essential knowledge and hands-on experience to help you develop the skills required for a career in electrical installations within buildings and structures.

What is a Study Programmes?
A Study Programme is a course designed for 16-18 year olds who want to progress onto an apprenticeship but don’t feel quite ready. A Study Programme will help you develop essential skills, gain industry-specific knowledge, and become more employable.

What does the course cover?

The Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations (Buildings and Structures) equips you with the knowledge and practical skills needed to work safely and competently in the electrical industry. Throughout the course, you will cover a wide range of essential topics, including:

  • Electrical Installations: Learn how to install and maintain electrical systems within buildings and structures, including wiring circuits, switches, and outlets
  • Health and Safety: Understand and apply industry-standard safety regulations and procedures to ensure safe working practices in electrical installations
  • Electrical Systems and Components: Gain hands-on experience with electrical systems, including lighting circuits, distribution boards, and electrical components
  • Testing and Inspection: Learn how to test electrical systems and equipment to ensure they meet required standards and operate safely
  • Fault Finding and Repairs: Develop skills in diagnosing and repairing faults in electrical circuits and installations
  • Electrical Theory: Understand the basic principles of electricity, including Ohm’s Law, circuit design, and electrical calculations
  • Building Regulations: Learn how to interpret and apply building codes and regulations related to electrical installations

This course will provide a solid foundation for progression onto an apprenticeship or entry-level roles in the electrical industry, preparing you for a career in electrical installations.

When will I attend?

You will be required to attend the Greater Manchester SkillCentre up to three days per week.

Additional attendance will be required if you have not yet passed your maths and/or English.

On successful completion, you will achieve a Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations (Buildings and Structures),

What are the entry requirements?

To apply for this qualification, you must have achieved:

  • GCSE grade 3 or above in maths and English, or
  • Functional Skills Level 1 in maths and English
How much does the course cost?

The course is FREE for anyone aged 16-18.
