Cybersecurity is the protection of internet-connected systems such as hardware, software and data from cyberthreats.

This qualification is designed for learners to learn about cybercrime. They will understand routine protective methods used to maintain cybersecurity including the principles of vulnerability and penetration testing and user access control.

This course is FREE to individuals who:

  • Are employed or unemployed
  • Are a Greater Manchester Resident
  • Aged 19+
  • Earns less than £25,000

What does the course cover?

This course is designed to introduce you to the world of Cyber Security.

You will:

  • Understand security protection and risk management issues.
  • Understand measures to protect IT systems and data from current and evolving threats.
  • Be able to implement measures to protect IT systems and data.
  • Understand current legal and ethical requirements, and IT security policies and procedures.

Content will include:

  • Types of threat to IT systems and data.
  • Factors that affect the vulnerability of IT systems and data.
  • Measures to protect IT systems and data from current and evolving threats.
  • Different physical security measures used to protect IT systems and data.
  • User access control system to restrict unauthorised access.
  • Ethical hacking can be used to protect IT systems and data.
  • Legal requirements and IT security policies and procedures that exist to protect IT systems and data.
  • Ethical and unethical conduct when using IT systems.
What will I achieve?

On successful completion, you will achieve a Level 2 Award in Cybersecurity.

There are no entry requirements for this course, however, you will need access to the following:

  • A computer 
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Microsoft Office Software

This course is delivered online, attendance is required:

  • Monday to Wednesday, 9.30am - 12.30pm
