Develops an in-depth understanding of dementia, the specific needs of individuals with the condition, and methods for supporting their families and carers.

This course is FREE for individuals who are:

  • Employed
  • A resident of Greater Manchester
  • Aged 19 or over at the start of the course
  • Earning less than £25,750 per year

What does the course cover?

On this course, you will explore essential topics related to Awareness of Dementia.

The curriculum covers the following key areas:

  • Dementia Awareness: Covers the types, signs, symptoms, and causes of dementia.
  • Person-Centred Approach: Explores tailoring care to individual needs.
  • Communication and Interaction: Focuses on overcoming barriers to communication and understanding behavioural changes.
  • Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion: Covers key concepts of inclusive care.
What will I achieve?

On successful completion, learners will achieve a Highfield Level 2 Award in Awareness of Dementia.

Attendance

Delivery:

  • 9:30am – 3:30pm
  • 9 sessions (1 per week)
  • Online tutorials (must have access to a laptop or computer with a working webcam and microphone)

 

What are the entry requirements?
  • Must live in GM
  • Can provide proof of right to live and work in the UK
  • Must be employed, earning less than £25,750
  • Can commit to duration of course
  • Not on any other ASF funded course
