What is a Study Programmes?
A Study Programme is a course designed for 16-18 year olds who want to progress onto an apprenticeship but don’t feel quite ready. A Study Programme will help you develop essential skills, gain industry-specific knowledge, and become more employable.

This study programme provides a broad introduction to key construction trades, helping you develop practical skills and knowledge in a range of areas. Topics include:
- Bricklaying: Learn how to lay bricks, build walls, and apply basic masonry techniques.
- Plastering: Gain skills in surface preparation, plaster application, and creating smooth finishes.
- Carpentry and Joinery: Develop skills in cutting, assembling, and fitting woodwork structures.
- Painting and Decorating: Understand surface preparation, painting techniques, and decorative finishes.
- Health and Safety: Learn about safety practices and regulations for working on construction sites.
This course is perfect for those who want to explore various trades before deciding on a specific area to specialise in or progress to further qualifications.
You will be required to attend the Greater Manchester SkillCentre up to three days per week.
Additional attendance will be required if you have not yet passed your maths and/or English.
Yes, you will receive an allowance of up to £25 per week.
To apply for this qualification, you must have achieved:
- GCSE grade 2 or above in maths and English, or
- Functional Skills Level 1 in maths and English
On successful completion, you will achieve an NOCN Level 1 Diploma in Construction Multi-Skills.
The course is FREE for anyone aged 16-18.
