BA (Hons) Professional Development Education (Top Up, Part-Time)

Study part-time for the BA (Hons) Education and Learning (Early Years), which is validated by the University of Greater Manchester. This course is designed for people who have successfully completed a Level 5 qualification in Early Years, Education or a related subject and wish to further their studies. This includes people who have completed a Foundation Degree in Early Years and Childhood Studies.

This 18-month programme is ideal for anyone qualified to Level 5 who works, or would like to work, in an Early Years setting and is looking to enhance their career progression. The course encourages students to critically explore education and early years within a wider context. It will further build on, and expand, the skills developed during prior study.

What does the course cover?

On this programme you will study a variety of modules including:

· The psychology of education

· The philosophy of education

· Educational leadership

· Research methods

· Dissertation

Students will learn through a range of classroom based lessons and be assessed for the different modules through a combination of assignments, reports, coursework, case studies, presentations and a dissertation.

When will I attend?

Attendance is required one evening per week, Wednesday, 5.30pm - 7.30pm. 

What will I achieve?

On successful completion you will achieve a BA (Hons) Education and Learning (Early Years), awarded by the University of Greater Manchester.

This will help you to further your professional career in a variety of educational contexts. Students wishing to pursue further qualifications within teaching may apply for a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Masters course.

What are the entry requirements?

A Level 5 qualification in Early Years or a related subject.

How much does the course cost?

Year one - £6,356

Year two - £3,178

Students are generally entitled to a tuition fee loan from Student Finance England.
