Apprentice Adult Care Worker

About this opportunity

Apprentice post as a Support Worker with the opportunity to train on and off the job to gain knowledge and skills in delivering community and residential care to individuals with physical and learning disabilities.

You will be working as part of a team providing person centred care to individuals who have a wide range of physical and learning disabilities including people with profound, multiple learning disabilities and complex health needs. Working hours will be shift based and may include occasional weekends.

You will be supporting people living in a residential setting attending to their individual needs, preferences and wellbeing. You will have a good understanding of your safeguarding responsibilities.

You will hold the right values and behaviours, show to be respectful, caring and compassionate when assisting with daily routines including personal care, eating and drinking, mobility needs, and supporting with access to social and community activities.

As part of your role you will assist with infection prevention and control policies and procedures, and will be required to undertake domestic duties such as cooking and cleaning to ensure high standards are maintained and compliance with health and safety and risks assessments are met.

You will be provided with induction training and specialised training such as in moving and positioning individuals before being asked to undertake those tasks.

As this is a training post, you will be entitled to 20% off the job hours to meet the knowledge and skills requirements of the apprenticeship contract.
You will be fully supported by your Skills Development Tutor who will be in contact with you for teaching and learning sessions, and will remain available for continuous support in between contacts.

Your Skills Development Tutor will work closely with your Supervisor to ensure your training needs are being met accordingly in compliance with the apprenticeship contract.

What you should have to apply

No formal qualifications required but ideally Maths & English at grade 4/C
