Low Carbon Skills: Journey to Net Zero is a fully-funded programme, for businesses of any size or sector which are based in Greater Manchester.

The Low Carbon Skills: Journey to Net Zero programme is an accredited level 3 course and attendees will become fully certified by successfully completing a virtual assessment. This course is also CPD certified by IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment).

Via group workshops, study material and one-to-one advice, environmental specialists will guide you through what net zero means for your business and how to prioritise action. With expert support, you’ll build a strategic plan to cut your carbon footprint, reduce costs, minimise risk and capitalise on the many opportunities awaiting you in the net zero world.

Put net zero into context, identify your key impacts and priorities and use carbon footprinting

to inform your decisions.

Workshop 1: Climate Change, the Global Response and You

  • Net zero and how it relates to climate change
  • Global, national, and regional targets and you
  • Risks of doing nothing benefits of action

Workshop 2: Gaining Insight with Carbon Footprinting

  • How to calculate your footprint
  • Using footprints to make decisions
  • Methods and pitfalls of carbon offsetting

 

IMPROVE OPERATIONS

Learn how to audit your premises, implement improvements and develop a net zero culture in the workplace.

Workshop 3: Improving Performance through Resource Efficiency and Transport Opportunities

  • How to reduce energy, materials and waste
  • Implementing quick wins for savings
  • Future-proofing your fleet and travel

Workshop 4: Developing an Engaged and Supportive Workforce

  • Embedding a net zero culture

WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?

You do not need any prior knowledge or experience for this fully funded short course however, applicants must be aged 16+ and be a resident of Greater Manchester OR working for a business based in Greater Manchester.
