BCS Level 1 Essential Digital Skills

This qualification is for anyone aged 19+ with some experience of using digital devices and the internet but lacking secure basic digital skills and wishes to
further develop and consolidate their skills.

By completing this qualification you will gain knowledge, confidence and experience in
using digital skills to obtain work or progression in your existing career.

As well as supporting you in the workplace and whilst seeking work, digital skills are important for everyday life and communication, for example:

  • setting up a group on messaging platforms, such as WhatsApp or Messenger, to talk to friends or family members
  • sending photographs and other documents to friends and family as an email attachment
  • setting up and using video calls such as Facetime or Skype for video communications with friends and family
  • being a member of and manage personal networking sites, such as Facebook
  • posting appropriately on social media, visit and post to forums such as Mumsnet

When does the course start?

January 2022.

What does the course cover?

This level 1 qualification will cover:

- Using Devices and handling information
- Creating and editing
- Communicating
- Transacting
- Being safe and responsible online

You will take two online, onscreen tests as part of this qualification. The two tests are
a Knowledge Test and a Skills Test. 

What will I achieve?

On successful completion, you will achieve a BCS Level 1 Essential Digital Skills qualification.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

You must have access to a laptop, PC or tablet to complete this qualification.

Where will I study?

This course is delivered online. 

How much does the course cost?

The course is FREE for anyone aged 19+ who has not previously achieved a digital qualification.
